Curbside pickup is scheduled for Monday mornings, except when Christmas falls on a Monday then pickups are deferred until Tuesday. The town also provides a pickup of hard trash, except for building materials, on the last Friday of each month. Call 828-625-9983 ext. 129 to schedule a pickup and indicate the items that need to be included.
- Why do you not pickup commercial brush cuts?
Brush pickup is a service the town provides for its residents, but anyone hired to cut brush is responsible for hauling it away. It is not the town’s responsibility.

There is a landfill in Rutherfordton on Laurel Hill Drive, phone 828-287-6125.
- What is the town’s snow removal policy?
Snow will be removed only on town maintained streets.
- Where do I pay my water bill?
If you are not going to mail your payment, then you can pay your bill at the Town Hall office located at 2948 Memorial Hwy between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday – Friday. There is also a night drop off slot available for after-hours payment.

Yes, you can fish in the lake and streams, but a North Carolina fishing license is required. Don't forget to buy trout stamps, which are also required for creek and river fishing.
In Lake Lure and surrounding streams of the Hickory Nut Gorge, you will find rainbow trout, brown trout, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, crappie, white bass, catfish, bluegill and sun perch.
The maximum number and minimum size of trout, bass and crappie that may be taken from Lake Lure is as follows:
Trout: A limit of 5 per day, per person; all must be no less than 15 inches long.
Bass: A limit of 5 per day, per person (total bass)
Largemouth bass must be no less than 16 inches long
Smallmouth bass must be no less than 14 inches long
Crappie: A limit of 20 per day, per boat; all must be no less than 10 inches long. It is unlawful to use basket trout lines or other stationary or unmarked devices, other than poles and those items normally used by sport fishing, for the catching of fish in the waters of Lake Lure.
